Opening Hagerstown Location

The original group who turned around Leitersburg Cinemas back in 2010 are coming back for an encore presentation.

HighRock Group, led by President, CEO and co-owner, Rich Daughtridge, and Greg Mills, COO and co-owner of Warehouse Cinemas, have officially announced the acquisition of the cinema on Leitersburg Pike and plan to re-open in early Fall of 2021. Renovations will begin immediately and should take approximately 3 months to complete.

“We are grateful and excited for another chance to bring this iconic cinema back to life. Get ready! We’re bringing the best of what made LC great back in the day, together with the best of our Warehouse Cinemas brand – new luxury recliners w/ seat warmers, elevated food options, a self-serve beer wall, creative cocktails and, as always, free refills on any size popcorn and sodas,” said Daughtridge. “We’re combining the best of the old with the best of the new.”

“Our plans are to begin renovations as early as next week, starting with replacing most of the recliners with brand new, luxury “VIP” recliners,” said Mills. “We will be replacing all the recliners in auditoriums 3-10, completely renovating the bathrooms and making other infrastructure upgrades before opening this coming Fall. While we’re open, we’ll phase in more improvements to auditoriums #1 and #2, the bar/lobby and the exterior.”

HighRock Group sold Leitersburg Cinemas and Waynesboro Theatre to New Vision Theatres back in January of 2019, but according to Facebook, the movie theatre closed during the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020 and announced it would not be reopening. In the meantime, Daughtridge and Mills were refining their cinema model with their flagship Warehouse Cinemas in Frederick, Maryland, eventually opening during the pandemic in September of 2021.

“It was a crazy time to open a movie theatre last year, but the results have been spectacular so far in Frederick, especially now that blockbusters are coming to the big screen again. We look forward to taking what we learned early-on at LC operationally, adding to that our experience building Warehouse Cinemas last year, and bringing it all together to launch Warehouse Cinemas - Leitersburg,” said Mills.

Ticket prices will remain similar to the original prices, including discount Tuesdays.

“I grew up going to Leitersburg Cinemas as a kid, so it’s more than a movie theatre to me. LC is a part of our DNA as a community,” said Daughtridge.
